Milwaukee is the biggest city in Wisconsin and it is located on Lake Michigan's southwestern shore. The first Europeans to visit this area were French fur traders and missionaries in the early nineteenth century. Milwaukee was founded as a city in 1846. A lot of immigrants, mainly German, helped to grow the population. Milwaukee has a reputation as a manufacturing and brewing powerhouse although recent additions to the city, which include Miller Park, a new pier, the Frontier Airlines Center and the Milwaukee Riverwalk, helped to give the city a new feel. The climate is humid continental and the proximity of the Great Lakes means the weather sometimes changes rapidly. July is the hottest month and January is the coldest. Thunderstorms, high winds, hail, and tornadoes are not unknown in the area and snow is commonplace during the winter months.
Germans and beer started to be synonymous with this city in the mid nineteenth century since the immigrant Germans establish breweries when they arrived. There were more than twenty five breweries in Milwaukee by 1856 and nearly a hundred and fifty taverns at the same time. Miller, Leinenkugel’s, and the Milwaukee Brewing Company are the only breweries to remain in the city today, although there are also brewing pubs there. Wine is also a popular drink and if you enjoy collecting wine you might like to visit Wine Cellar Inc, Cellars Wines & Spirits or any one of Milwaukee's other wine suppliers and wine cellar fitters to give you all the best advice about wine purchasing and wine storage in Milwaukee.
