Three Ways to Enjoy Red Red Wine

Red Red wine is so great that UB40 even wrote a song about it. Some people prefer white but many people would say that red red wine is their favorite kind of wine. This versatile drink can be enjoyed by itself, with snacks or with dinner. You can even cook with it and make mouthwatering red wine recipes.

Unwind with a Relaxing Glass of Red

It is a fact that people drink red wine more slowly than they drink white wine and this is largely because of how it feels in the mouth. White or blush wines are often served as "cooling" drinks in the summer and whereas you might not gulp these beverages exactly, you do tend to consume them faster than a glass of red.

Young red wines are often nice served slightly chilled, whereas older ones are better served at room temperature. It is a mistake to serve red wine too warm and "room temperature" usually refers to a cool room, not a stifling kitchen in July!

Despite the serving temperatures, red wine is still drunk more slowly than white wine, so if you want something to sip during the evening, you might like to choose a red red wine to relax with. You do not have to serve food with it.

Pair It with Your Favorite Snacks

Red red wine pairs nicely with all kinds of appetizers and snacks. If you are having a party without serving a meal, it is a good idea to serve some snacks with the wine, partly because people get hungry after drinking and also because it is a good idea to line the stomach with food if you are going to consume more than one glass of wine. As UB40 sang, "red red wine, go to my head!"

Something rich and bold like a Cabernet Sauvignon would go nicely with ripe cheese or beef appetizers. A fruity red wine like a Merlot would be great with bacon-wrapped shrimp or even a few nuts. If you have guests visiting in the evening, after dinner, offering some red red wine with a few simple snacks is something that they will probably enjoy.

Serve It With a Delicious Dinner

Red wine can be used as a cooking ingredient or served alongside dinner. Perhaps you want to do both, adding some red wine to your beef or game stew recipe and serving the remainder of it with dinner.

It is not true that you should only use "cooking wine" in recipes, since you will be able to taste the poor quality wine in the food. It is much better to use something you would drink (it does not have to be something very expensive) and then you can serve the remainder of it with the meal. Very few recipes require a whole bottle anyway.

It can sometimes be difficult to correctly match your wine with your food but if you serve some of the wine you have used to make the meal, it will go well with it, without a doubt.

So now you have three different ways of serving your red red wine. Whichever types of red wine you happen to prefer, you can choose your favorite snacks or meal to go with it and enjoy how the food and wine go together and complement one another.
